She did it!! Ellaina pooped in the potty this evening. Lately Ellaina has been telling me "poopy" before she goes. With a bathroom under construction, I haven't even begun to try pushing the issue. Tonight though, I thought what the heck she is telling me ahead of time, I should try it. She said "poopy" so we went to the bathroom and she sat on the toilet. I read her a book or two and realized this was probably just a false alarm, so we went back to the table and kept eating. Then she said it again and went running to the bathroom on her own. I followed her, helped her with her big girl undies and started reading to her again. Before I knew it, she had done it. My little girl went poopy in the potty for the first time. I am soooo proud of her. We called Grandma and anyone who would listen to share in our excitement!
Braden (4month) and Ellaina (2 year) had their well checks yesterday, and I concluded that they are growing up too quickly. Braden weighs in at 17 lbs 1 oz and 26 1/2 inches. He is in the 84% for his weight and 91% for his height. Ellaina has remained steady eddy in the 98% for her height at 37 1/4 inches. She has thinned out quite a bit though at 28 lbs 13 oz (73%). All in all their check ups went well. Braden has another double ear infection. Sweet little guy has such a pleasant nature about him, that he wasn't really even fussing. Ellaina enjoyed her doctors appointment since she got her "lol pop" at the end...and at the beginning. Wow, they grow so fast!
We went to the Pumpkin patch yesterday. Like we have done every year since we have moved here and always enjoy ourselves. This year was fun too, but it got me thinking that maybe are family is too young for it. It was exhausting and really quite hot. Ellaina had a lot of fun feeding the goats and Long horns. For a while she would try to give them one little piece at a time. Brad showed her how to feed the cow out of the cup and that was a big hit as well. She also loved the pumpkins and flowers in the pumpkin patch. Picking flowers is her favorite thing to do around the house, so I wasn't surprised when she kept picking the yellow flowers in the patch.
Ellaina has grown this fascination with bugs, thanks Grandma, and was making a big deal every time she saw a fly. As you could imagine there were a lot of flies where we were eating and her fascination became freak outs. It was funny watching her get so upset at the flies, but we were getting frustrated too because there were a lot of bees.
By the time we went on the hay ride, Ellaina was done and ready for a nap. Yes Mom, I said hay ride...and I paid for it overnight by not being able to breath. Both Ellaina and Braden were so good. In the past, we have always gone with Kim and/or Laura's families and I defiantly like it better that way.
What a mess, Ellaina had her first smore today. It was so cute how much fun she had tring to eat it. Braden was sitting in his bumbo chair while we had a smore and was quite entertained. After the one we shared was gone, Ellaina was asking for a marshmallow and enjoyed that even more. This was her first time eating marshmallows too and she really liked those. Apparently, smores aren't the easiest or cleanest things for a two year old to eat!
On a side note, we have been working on "trick or treat" so she can say it on Friday for Halloween. She says trick or treat, but thinks it's trick or tree. Every time she says it, she points to a tree. It is too cute!
Braden is starting to be very sociable and cooing all the time. Ellaina finds this so interesting and is really loving cuddling up on him. He smiles at everything she does, which makes her want to do more. Ellaina is quite the big sister and Braden is such a happy little guy. Although they are loving each other, Ellaina still will not call him by name. She calls him "Baby" anytime we say his name. In the morning when we are eating breakfast and Braden wakes up crying upstairs, Ellaina is quick to say "Baby cry" in a concerning voice. It is way too cute and so much fun seeing them together.
At night, we have this little routine where we get Ellaina undressed and let her play a little while in just her diaper or underwear. Ellaina calls this getting "naked" and gets so excited. She even has a naked dance. The last few nights she has been adamant about making sure Braden is "naked" too. It is so funny, especially when she points at his baby boobs and says "boobies". It is such a riot and we can not figure out where she learned that word from. This is what life is all about!
To my surprise Braden rolled over today from his belly to his back. Unfortunately, I missed the actual move of rolling over and just looked when he was on his back. The kids have a stuffy nose, so I was using saline spray on Ellaina's nose when he did it. He has since been stingy about rolling over and has yet to do it for Brad and I :-)
I got cereal in my tummy! Braden has begun eating cereal. Since he is such a big guy and growing so quickly, we thought we would try giving him some cereal today. I forgot how messy it can be feeding cereal to a baby, especially when he sneezes with a mouthful. He didn't tell us, but her seemed to really enjoy it :-) He is so easygoing that he pretty much enjoys everything. They grow so quickly.
Alright we are finally back in Texas, and what a busy vacation we had. We got back to my parents house from Fargo (4hour trip) at 3 ish. Luckily we got to be passengers thanks to Danny & his sweet girlfriend Christy. I snapped some pictures of my brother and family. It was so much fun and I already miss the kids terribly. We...scratch that, I packed up all the suit cases while Brad got some much needed beauty rest before begin our 15 hour drive back to Texas.
Needless to say, Brad and I were very much exhausted from Matt & Lisa Warren's wedding weekend. It was such a blast getting to spend an entire weekend with so many of our friends. My first weekend away from the kids, which was hard, but so much fun and it flew by. They both did great getting to soak up a lot of time with my Mom & Dad, Jason, Nicole and their kids Logan, Ethan and Emma (or as Ellaina calls her Mema).
I am defiantly ready for a nap and hopeful that maybe we can work in a family nap today. I have attached some pictures from the last weekend wedding and a few more of the trip. It was soooo nice seeing everyone again and getting to spend some quality time with the family! We Love You All!
Ellaina turned TWO today!! It is so hard to believe it has been two years already. Time races by so quickly. We had a fun day with Ellaina's cousin Emma. Grandma took the day off work also, so we got to have a day with her and Grandpa. The girls and I had a big dance party in the family room to the Choo Choo Soul cd. At one point we were all holding hands bouncing up and down and spinning around. It was so much fun hearing them laughing so hard. We did a lot of coloring and snuck in some pictures of Ellaina, Emma (5year old) and Braden. My little Ellaina was as difficult as usual for pictures, but we got two that works and that's all that matters. We worked hard to get those two though, and I hope someday she will be a little ham like Emma was! I pick Brad up from the airport late, so we are celebrating her birthday tomorrow with pizza family and fun!
More fun and pictures from MN. Grandpa, Grandma, Ellaina and I went to visit Great Grandpa Antil on Friday. It was a really nice time, and had some visitors while we were there. Great Grandpa Antil really enjoyed holding Braden and Ellaina really enjoyed Great Grandpa's tire swing. On Monday, Brad's Uncle & Aunt (the kids "Gruncle & Graunt") came to meet Braden and have lunch with us. It was so nice to see Joe and Low. Ellaina took to Low pretty quickly, which is not usual for her. We also got to spend sometime with Amanda Burrows and her boyfriend Dave. So much visiting, so little time. :-) P.S. It has been more cool than we are used to...Braden is all bundled up, so Ellaina could swing.
The weather has been chilly up here. I swear I saw my breath last night at the outdoor wedding reception. They had a bonfire going, which was so much fun and relaxing. The wedding was my good friend Shawnna and her new husband Dan. This was the first time I got to meet Dan, and I was impressed. Anyone who can make my friend Shawnna smile like that is a keeper! Their love was so evident and it was such a touching wedding! Shawnna is one of the my "Zopfi Girls". It is a group of 7 of us girls, that grew up together on Zopfi Way from the time we were babies. We get together regularly when I am in town and have a blast. Friendships like these are irreplaceable and amazing. 28 years later and we are all together for the celebration of Shawnna's love!
Grandma Patty has developed a bit of a shadow...even inside. That shadow happens to be the almost 2 years old Ellaina. In Auntie Jenni's absence, Ellaina has begun to follow Grandma ("papa") everywhere. She calls both Grandma and Grandpa "Papa". Everywhere Grandma goes Ellaina is either right behind her or running to catch up. When I get her out of bed in the morning the first thing she says is "Papa!". It is such a wonderful thing to watch and experience!
Daddy has been in Texas for almost a week now, and we are sure missing him. I can not wait to get to throw my arms around him in 4 more days...not including today. I have attached a few pictures of our trip so far. It has been such a fun time! Pictures: (top left: Ellaina & Auntie Jenni) (Ellaina, Ethan, Emma, Logan & Braden) (Ellaina denying Jack a kiss...she was in a mood.) I am a mother of three who is deeply and truly in love with life and the people around me! I have been blessed in every aspect of my life and praise God everyday for the gifts I have been given. I grew up in Maple Grove, Minnesota. Married my true love and moved to McKinney. Wow what an adventure! My days are spent loving, dancing, singing and celebrating life with my babies...all four of them (if you include my husband)! I get the unique and amazing opportunity to see life happen through the lens of a camera. Portraits
are something I’m incredibly passionate about
and enjoy sharing with others. I love
my family, friends, laughter, music,
dancing and anything chocolate.
These are the things my life is
about and I LOVE living it!
