FUN?!?

Today was picture day at the Jackson household. I took Braden's six month pictures...one month late. With Brad home, due to the inclement weather, I felt ambitious enough to try to get one of Ellaina and Braden together.
When it comes to pictures, patience IS a virtue, and Brad lacks it. Needless to say, it was not a successful session with the two together. Enjoy the show. If you want to see ALL the pictures feel free to click on this link: http://www.pbase.com/portraitsbykym/braden

Here are the photos of Ellaina & Braden together!Braden looks terrified

Deep Thoughts by Braden Jackson

The Award for Parents of the Month goes to.....

What an end of a week. While eating dinner on Thursday, Braden tumbled, seat and all, off the kitchen table. He started crying immediately, which was a good thing because he wasn't knocked unconscious. It was so scary and sad. That night he slept in bed with me so I could keep an eye on him and wake him up time to time. By the time the sunshine creeped into our back windows, Braden was up smiling and acting like his happy self. Mommy on the other hand was exhausted.

That afternoon, Braden threw up after eating. Throwing up was a concern due to his tumble. Brad meet me at Acute Kid Care that evening to have him looked over. There was an obvious bump from where his head hit, but the throwing up was not a symptom of his fall. That was more viral, so we had to let him go a few hours without eating. I sent my girlfriend and expert Kristin a text with my concerns: "Am I really suppose to let Braden cry himself to sleep hungry?" Apparently my text sounded desperate, so she called to comfort me. She is always good at that!

It was another long night of feeding him a teaspoons of Pedialyte in 10-15 minute intervals at 3:00am. It was worth it though to see his smiling face again in the morning. Now everyone is doing good. Braden is our little tough guy. No bruises...no more sitting on the table either. I think Brad and I will not be nominated for parents of the week/month anytime soon.

A Night Out!

On Monday Brad and I headed to Dallas to go out for dinner with our friends Steinert, Tony and Stacey. Steinert was in town from Minnesota for business. It was such a great time! Tony choose "Tom Toms" for dinner. The food was so wonderful and for the first time I tried sushi and tuna. The tuna was very delicious, and the sushi was interesting. I would defiantly have both again :-) Our friends Tony and Stacey are planning a wedding and I got to see her dress. It is fabulous!! I love weddings and I can not wait for theirs!!

GREAT Morning!

What is about a sleeping baby in your arms that makes you completely melt and reflect? Today was the 1st day in 17 days I got to wake up with my husband beside me, and it felt like I was blessed by all the angels in heaven. This morning, while I was feeding Braden on the glider in our room, I got to look at Brad still asleep in bed. 17 days...not since New Years day have I gotten to wake up next to him. Wow, I didn't realize how much I truly missed him until that moment this morning. I forgot how great it feels to have him hold me in the morning before the busyness begins. It made the entire day more magical.

"He's Perfect"

In Dr. Sutton's words, "Braden is perfect". I'm sure she says that to all the moms, but it made me smile anyway! Braden had his 6 month well check yesterday and everything was great. When we took Ellaina to her 6 month appointment, we left scheduling her an appointment at Scottish Rite, so I will gladly take delight in "perfect".

Braden is weighing in at 19 lbs even(60?%) and 28 inches long (84%). In comparison, Ellaina was 19lbs 13oz and 29 inches at this time. His tubes look great and are blue. Dr. Sutton asked the FAQ regarding Braden always being so happy. He was flirting with her the entire appointment.

He hasn't been as happy for Mommy and Daddy though lately. He is not wanting to take long enough naps, so by the end of the day he is quite moody. The last 2 days, I have started letting him cry himself back to sleep if he wakes up after only a 30min nap. I think this is the answer to the problem. It is just hard to hear him cry. I want to go and comfort him, but in the end I know this is best. Ellaina struggles with it too. She keeps saying "Oh No, Baby cry...baby awake." She runs to the gate and starts saying "It's OK Baby...don't cry." It is really sweet how deeply concerned she is about him.

Oh, Braden got his Chrismas wish...his two front teeth.

Big Girl Cut!

My girlfriend Toni gave Ellaina a cute hair cut on Wednesday. I realized it was beginning to resemble a mullet, so I thought it was time to let Toni work her magic! Ellaina seemed to really enjoy getting her hair cut again. She sat on her tricycle the entire time and let Toni just cut away. Now we can see her beautiful face better and she looks like such a big girl. I can not believe how grown up she is getting. She got this dress up kit from Sharla and loves to walk around in the heals and try to get the cloths on herself.

Monkey See, Monkey Do

Ellaina has become my little copy cat! She says and does everything I do. She talks so sweet to Braden when he is upset, and she rocks her babies before putting them to bed...like I do her.

Today she did the funniest thing yet. We keep finding lady bugs around the house. The first one I found was in the bathroom, so I just flushed it down the toilet. Now when Ellaina finds a lady bug, she picks it up, runs to the bathroom and throws it in the toilet. She is so funny! I attached a picture of Ellaina as a ladybug October 2007.

What a Breeze

All the concern, anxiety and sleeplessness was for nothing. Braden's surgery was so easy and such a success. They did not have to put him out like I was worried about. Braden got a little gas and was awake within 10 min. He was such a trooper! The nurse commented on how he will be a totally different baby afterward. She said he will be sleeping through the night, happier and more vocal. I didn't think that was possible. He already sleeps through the night and is always smiling. What do I know...he is even more happy (if possible) and is cooing and laughing up a storm. It is almost like he just realized he has a voice and wants to be heard.

Best of all, he was already on his way to another ear infection in his left ear. He just got off antibiotics on Wednesday. I am happy he won't have tobe in pain anymore. Dr. Dale Ehmer ((972) 731-7654) is wonderful and I would highly recommend him if anyone is in the same boat. Thank you for all your support and prayers!

Prayers for Braden

Braden is going to the hospital tomorrow for his tubes. I am extremely nervous about this surgery and the anesthesia. I know it is routine and they do it all the time, but I am still quite scared. We would appreciate if you would keep him in your prayers.

Happy New Years!

This year we hosted New Years at our house! It was a GREAT time and nice to ring in the New Year with our family and friends. We ate a lot of food, drank a lot of adult beverages, played some "President and A**hole" cards, toasted in the New Year with champagne, and had some competitions with the Wii. It was so much FUN!!
