Sucker :)

Well it’s official, Ellaina has found her sucker…Grandma. So far she has suckered Grandma out of many treats she doesn’t get from mom & dad. She gave Grandma a hand with her cinnamon rolls and thought it was so much fun. (picture to come once grandma finds her USB cord) Grandparents are the BEST!! Ellaina and I are starting to feel a little better, but the little guy is still struggling. Braden isn’t quite on 100% milk yet, but he is keeping the Pedialyte/milk combo down. Even sick, he can squeeze out the biggest smile! He sure likes to snuggle up and is enjoying the arms of Grandma & Grandpa as well as Brad and I.

Brad and I headed out to the Lookout last night, once the kids were asleep. Ann & Brandon picked us up and we were met by some of our friends. It was such a great time! We both really miss spending time with all our friends up here. I don’t think I have laughed so hard for a long time. I also don’t think I have felt that cold in a long time. Burrrrrrrrr

Very excited to see Jason’s kids…once ours are healthy! We got to see Jason the night we got in. Ellaina saw him and said “Hi Jason”. It was so sweet.

We Have Arrived!

Look out Minnesota, the Jackson family has arrived and with no time to spare. We woke up Thursday to talks of snow coming, and it was delivered. It snowed about 6 inches of “pretty white snowflakes” according to Ellaina. It WAS pretty and it made it feel at home.

It didn’t take long for Ellaina to become best of friends with Grandma & Grandpa again. Braden enjoyed them too…as long as mom wasn’t nearby. Then all he wanted was me. I guess Brad isn’t too far off when he calls Braden “Mama’s boy”. Later we discovered it was probably more than that. He started getting sick Thursday night which would make a total of three sick people…if you include me. Not the best way to start our trip. Hopefully we are coming to an end and can start really enjoying ourselves. Sick kids aren’t always the happiest kids.

P.S. First plane ride with 2 kids and 2 parents…not the best. Braden cried about 10 min during the decent until I finally held him, which made Ellaina mad and cry out for a minute or two. Braden became fascinated with the lights outside, distracting him until we landed. Not the most excited about flying home alone with Ellaina & Braden. I will be out numbered :)

Perfect Timing

Ellaina's school called for me to come and pick her up. She is not feeling well. Did I mention we leave for MN real soon. Isn't that always the way it goes :)

Hodges +1

Congratulations to the Hodges family of three for becoming a family of four today. Cathy & Greg had their sweet baby girl at 4:43 pm. Juliette weighed in at 7 lbs 1 oz and 20 inch. She has dark brown hair and the most peaceful disposition. She is so precious and beautiful!

I knew something was up when I got a call from Cathy at 7:00 in the morning. Sure enough, her water broke and little Juliette's journey to her mother's arms began. Mommy and baby are doing great. Cathy looked like she was in heaven when Laura and I visited them tonight. Greg was standing by anxiously awaiting us to finish holding Juliette so he could have her back. Quite the family they have :)

Monday Already?

This weekend flew by so quickly. I can not believe it is already Monday night. We all had a nice "Valentimes" day...as Ellaina calls it. We made Brad a picture collage for his desk at work. We started the morning by leaving that by his bedside while he slept in. Once everyone was awake, we had some pancakes and then parted ways. I took Braden with me to get a paint brush while Brad and Ellaina went to pick up something top secret...pink roses.

Both kiddos went down about the same time, so Brad relaxed in front of the TV and I started painting our master bath.
We had it remodeled at the end of the year and now we are trying to finish up our part of the work. It is a really big bathroom with high ceilings. I'm not enjoying painting so much :) Almost done though! I rolled it on Sunday and am just finishing cutting in what I didn't get done on Saturday. I'll post some pictures once it is all said and done. We still have a light figure to hang, new faucets to install and cabinets to paint. Maybe it will be done by 2010 :)

Back to Valentines day...Brad made a nice spaghetti dinner for us with candles and soft music. We danced around in the kitchen for a little while before taking off to Braums for some ice cream. Needless to say, my stomach was quite upset in the middle of the night. It was valentines day though, how do you turn down ice cream with your loved ones. Ellaina was a little upset when leaving Braums, since we didn't bring her left over ice cream home. She got over it quickly and was lovin up on us during her bedtime routine. This valentines day would rank up there at the top. Something about those two little smiling faces that make everything better than I could even imagine.

P.S. Thank you Grandma & Grandpa Roufs for the adorable cards and valentine gift. It was really sweet and Ellaina LOVED the nibs. Also thank you to Ms. Toni and Courtney for the delicious cupcakes. Brad gave Ellaina hers when she woke up and that was all she talked about!

Donuts with Dad

Yesterday was “Donuts with Dad” day at Ellaina’s school. Brad was able to sneak out of work to join Ellaina for this magical moment. Ellaina and the kids made ties for their daddies to wear. Brad’s was a cute pink and purple tie with a heart on it. They sang the cutest song to the dads too. She didn’t do a lot of singing, since she was being bashful. I was so happy Brad was able to go, Ellaina just stayed as close as she could to him.

Just Keep Swimming

Brad has had the last few Saturdays off, so we have taken the kids swimming at the senior pool. It is such a nice time and they both are really enjoying the water. Braden just kicks and splashes most the time and Ellaina likes to jump to us and splash around on the ramp. I have photos from our first trip. That was Braden’s first time swimming. Last week the Daugherty family joined us for the fun!

Sticker Mania

Beware of where you rest and play at our house. If the sticker fairy is on the loose, you will get stuck! Ellaina is really enjoying stickers and no one is safe. She started by putting them on paper. Then moved to sticking them on herself and gradually started sticking them to anyone in her reach. Daddy got it when he laid on the floor, and Braden got it while playing. Both Braden and Ellaina were giggling while she was putting them all over his face.

Braden is getting to the age now were everything Ellaina does is so humorous. He is rolling everywhere and just this week started crawling backwards. If he wants something, he turns his body and rolls to it. It is quite comical to watch. I don’t remember Ellaina rolling so much, but she is enjoying rolling Braden. She pushes him around and around and they both laugh so hard. I know it won’t always be this great between them, so I am soaking it all up right now. She is also allowing him to sit on her bed at night for story time. It usually doesn’t last the entire time, since he is grabbing at everything...including the book we are reading. Needless to say, Ellaina doesn’t like his hands all over the books.

Playdates

We had many kiddos over the last few weeks. It has been so much fun, and Ellaina is having a great time playing with all her friends! I have attached many pictures of the kids with their friends.

Teething Baby = Tired Mommy

Poor little Braden has bulging gums right now. Six of his teeth are already showing, but I can feel one or two more on the way. This has been causing problems with his nightly sleep habits. He has been waking up at least once every night this week, which is leaving me completely exhausted. Ellaina has probably felt the brunt of my exhaustion. My fuse is a little short, so I have to try really hard not to get upset with her...she is two. Right now we are watching "Happy Feet" and eating popcorn. She really enjoys popcorn & movie night. This week, it is popcorn & movie afternoon. Mommy needs a break :)
