Best Job Ever!

I have the pleasure of getting to stay home with my kids and know that this time goes by so quickly. I try to eat up every hug, every “mommy”, every slobbery kiss, every forehead bump (Braden’s way of kissing from time to time), every “I love you so much” (which was the best thing ever said to me when Ellaina said it for the first time with the “so much”), every running hug, every climbing fest the kids have when I lay on the floor, every “rock me mommy” I get when I lay Ellaina down, every loving gaze I get from my kids, every time Ellaina asks me to sit next to her at the table, every time Braden climbs onto the kitchen table to sit with me, every everything.

With that said, I wanted to remember the feeling of my first mommy sandwich! Ellaina always throws her arms around my back, when I am changing Braden’s diaper. Today I was sitting on the floor playing with the kids when Ellaina came and hugged me from the back, and Braden came and hugged me from the front. We sat there rocking back and forth in one big hug for at least a minute. I was soaking up all the love and enjoying the best part of being a mommy!

Mason's Incredible Recovery...Thank You GOD!

As many of you know, my nephew Mason was hospitalized with a ruptured appendix. He had two large abscesses surrounding the ruptured appendix that had to be drained. It is an act of God, that he is home already and in amazingly great spirits. He came home two and a half days after they drained the abscesses and returned to school right away on Monday. The doctors were initially saying he was going to be in the hospital about seven days after drainage. It is a miracle how quickly Mason recovered from this serious and scary experience. I am always amazed what the power of prayer can accomplish.

He will still have to have surgery in about six weeks to remove his ruptured appendix, but what an incredible ending to a scary situation. If you want to read the experience through Kim's (Mason's mom) eyes, click this link http://labtocrib.blogspot.com/2009/10/one-for-masons-baby-book.html. She is such a great writer. The timeline is interesting and humorous at the same time. She has a way of bringing humor to every situation, which I love and admire that about her :)

Pumpkin Patch FUN!

Although we had desided to skip the pumpkin patch this year, the kids and I broke down and went afterall. Surprisingly it was not as crazy as it was last year and the kids had a wonderful time! My MOPS group had a play date scheduled there, so we were in good company with many of our friends.

The kids had such a great time feeding the animals. The sheep kept taking the kids cups of food from them with their mouth. Then the sheep would pour it in their own mouth. Ellaina thought it was really funny when the sheep did that. Not so funny though when all her animal food was gone. Braden had no fear feeding the longhorns. He would put his hand right out to them.

Like always, Braden was on the go the entire time. I couldn't let him out of my sight for a second. He found himself a little girlfriend and was loven on her. He was giving her kisses and they both kept huging each other it was sweet and humerious at the same time :) Ellaina is at such a fun age and truly enjoys doing things with friends. She is always asking if "lots of friends are coming over today?". She is going to be my social butterfly.

Special Gav Gav Time!

Kim was texting Laura and I Wednesday evening, keeping us posted on the status of Mason's 2nd emergency room visit. By 10:00pm I got the text to head over to the Daugherty's house so Kim could join Kevin and Mason at Children's. Thursday morning, I started packing a bag for Gavin so we could head over to my house. Brad had to leave for work by 5:30am. When I went into Gavin's room to get some diapers, I here the sweetest and most enthusiastic "HI". Gav Gav was awake! I picked him up and headed out.

Once at my place, Brad headed to work and Gavin and I cuddled in bed watching some cartoons. Eventually we both fell asleep and woke up to Ellaina knocking on her bedroom door. It was so adorable how excited Ellaina, Gavin and Braden were to see each other. At breakfast, they barely ate because they were all laughing so hard. I couldn't stop thinking how special this is for all of them and for me. This is what family is about and we are truely blessed.

Children's finally realized what Mason was suffering from, it was a ruptured appendix. He has two large abscesses surrounding his ruptured appendix and will have to have them drained before they can do surgery to remove his appendix. Kim and Kevin are with him now and they are transferring him to Dallas Children's. Please keep them all in your prayers.

Dear Dr. Nord...

It was great to see you all again during this trip to Minnesota. How can I ever express what an incredible Chiropractor you are. During our summer trip to Minnesota, you gave Braden such relief from his never ending ear pain and fluid. You restored our faith in the chiropractic ability to heal chronic ear infections and did it all so remarkably. The kids absolutely love coming to your office and actually enjoyed being adjusted. You made it look so easy, that I had no idea what was in store for me in my search for a new Texas chiropractor.

After numerous visits to five different chiropractors and hundreds of dollars in co-pays, we finally found one that seems to keep the fluid from building up. However, still no Dr. Nord. You definitely are exceptional talented at what you do. Your patient are incredibly blessed to have you, and any future patients are incredibly lucky when they find you. Dr. Nord at Excel Family Chiropractic in Maple Grove, we want to thank you and look forward to our next trip to Minnesota so we can see you all again! My son will be ear surgery free because of you!

Another Birthday Celebration for Ellaina!

Grandma & Papa wanted to celebrate Ellaina’s birthday while we were in Minnesota. So Grandma made a fun spider cake and invited Jason and the kids over. Ellaina really enjoyed herself and loved being sung Happy Birthday again!

She was also excited about the doctor kit she received. It was the PERFECT gift for her. We have been going to pediatric doctors and chiropractors a lot for Braden’s chronic ear infections. Now Ellaina likes to pretend she is Braden’s doctor. When he lies down to get changed, Ellaina sits by his head and says “I am Braden’s doctor”. The kit will make it more fun…or more trouble :)

Sorry Passengers on Flight 349 MSP to DFW

If you happened to be one of the lucky October 18th passengers on Flight 349 Minneapolis to Dallas, you got to hear my lovely three year old daughter testing her mother. Our teary goodbye to Grandma & Papa turned into a dramatic scene with Ellaina crying for more hugs and not wanting to let Grandma go. We made it thru the metal detectors and all was looking up.

Ellaina's temperament however was like the weather in Minnesota...ever changing and unpredictable. Knowing that she was going without a nap and up until 10:00 the night before, I didn't know what to expect. I was shocked and embarrassed at her tantrums. It was the first time I had ever seen that side of Ellaina and I was just flabbergasted. She was rolling around the floor screaming at the gate. I was pretty sure everyone, at that time, was hoping they would be the lucky winner of seat 12D...right next to us.

Braden was pretty well behaved on the plane. He liked to play peek a boo with the people behind us. Ellaina was much better on the plane, but that wasn't not saying much. A couple of very frustrating moments and then we finally landed. It it safe to say this will probably be the last time I will fly with the kids by myself...EVER.

P.S. Grandma & Papa, you better start making your plans to come down here. Ellaina keeps asking when you are coming over :)

Apple Jack's in Minnesota!

During our trip to Minnesota, we got a chance to go to Apple Jack Orchard with Grandma & Papa. We all had such a GREAT time...despite the cooler weather. Ellaina got a chance to ride a pony for the first time. Chip was a sweet little pony and Ellaina LOVED it! Braden ended up walking next to him with me. He just wanted to keep petting the pony. So adorable :)

We headed into the restaurant area for lunch and dessert. Then picked up our favorite Honeycrisp Apples and headed back outside to a tractor ride. I always loved going to the orchard when we lived in Minnesota, so it was such a great treat to take the kids. Made even more special with Grandma & Papa!

Plane Faces!

On the plane to Minnesota, a gentlemen waiting to get to his seat started laughing at the kids. I looked at him and he said "Check out those faces". Without looking, I knew Braden was doing his head down, eyes up serious face. It is hilarious and he does it all the time to get us to laugh. Ellaina however was a surprise. She was sitting there staring at him with her pointer fingers pulling her mouth wide. Everyone waiting in the isle started laughing. The kids were quite proud of themselves :)

Kym, Hey Kym

This is what Ellaina is saying under her door, in her room right now...instead of napping. It has been almost a month since we have gotten rid of her paci. In that almost month, Ellaina has only napped twice, smeared lotion all over her head while "napping", sung happy birthday under the door to every one of her friends and family members, and is now reverting to calling me Kym. Does she miss her paci? I'm not sure, but I sure do :)

Braden on the other hand goes down with barely a peep. The other night he wasn't tired, so we heard him in his crib clapping, singing and talking. Hopefully he stays that way and Ellaina takes notes!

Lotion Overload!

Yesterday Ellaina was in her room for nap time, but not napping like usual. Brad thought he would go lay with her since was home early. All of a sudden I hear him say, "Go show you mom.". Ellaina came to the top of the stairs covered in lotion. It looked like she had a white wig on her head. We both couldn't stop laughing until we realized it was the thick Aquaphor lotion and going to be impossible to clean up. After an hour bath with Dawn soap, two baking soda treatments and a wash with clarifying shampoo, she still looks like her hair is wet when it isn't. I had to keep a hood on her today when we were out and about.

Lesson learned...just because the drawers stick when you try to open them doesn't mean a determined little girl won't find a way to get into them. Needless to say, there is nothing in her room to surprise us again...I hope :)

Special Time!

Now that Ellaina has started school, Braden and I get some special one on one time twice a week. It is so exciting to have time just the two of us. He gets all the attention and climbs all over me. It has been a month now, and this smart little guy has it all figured out. When I wake him up from his nap, he asks "Ellaina now?". Then gets so excited when we get to her school. It is the cutest thing :) My little sweetie pie. He has such a soft spot for his big sister!

Ellaina is THREE!

It is hard to believe it has been three years since I was in the hospital having our first baby Ellaina. I remember that day like it was yesterday. We had prayed and waited so long for our first angle. When that moment came all I can remember is the pure joy we felt at her first noises. I looked up at Brad and said "I'm ready to do this again anytime you are!"

Ellaina was amazing and I didn't want to let her out of my sight. She was our little cuddle bug, luckily for us she still is. Brad and I were wrapped around her finger from the beginning. Three years later she is a lot more vocal and brings us more JOY, LAUGHTER and LOVE then we could have ever imagined. She has such a silly sense of humor about her and the biggest heart. Don't get me wrong, she has her moments and those moments usually are towards Braden, but luckily they are a lot fewer then the wonderful moments we all share :)

She is an amazing little girl and I find myself so excited to see what her future holds. With her personality and loving heart, there are no limits to the incredible things she will accomplish in her lifetime! Happy Third Birthday Ellaina! We LOVE and ADORE you so much!!

Ellaina Birthday Dinner!

We went to Chilis to celebrate Ellaina's birthday with Aunt Kim, Aunt Laura, Uncle Keith and all her Texas cousins. We had so much fun...well crazy eating with six kids kind of fun :) Ellaina and Gavin had a lot of fun following each other around playing by the windows. The wait staff sang Happy Birthday to Ellaina and brought out a cake mountain. She kept eating the ice cream with her fingers and refused a spoon. After we got home, we got the kids ready for bed and let Ellaina open her presents. She is really enjoying unwrapping presents. We got her a lot of cloths, and I have a feeling this is the last year we can get away with that :)
Thank you for joining us Daugherty and Barron families. You made it extra special!

Triple the Birthday FUN!

On Saturday we celebrated Ellaina's 3rd birthday with a big birthday party for her, Mason (7) and Gavin (2). It was soooo much FUN! Here is a run down of the party according to Ellaina..."We bounced in a house, lots of kids, hit a pumpkin and boom came candy, presents, hot dogs, had candles & cake, lots of fun!"

Interpretation: We had a castle bounce house, which the kids had so much fun bouncing in. Gavin and Braden loved playing Ring Around the Rosie in the bounce castle. Many of the kids even bounced in the rain when it was wet and slippery. We had a pumpkin pinata that everyone got two turns hitting. Courtney gave it the final blow and all the candy went bursting out. Ellaina was so funny, she would pass by other candy to get to the lolli pops. After the pinata, we had cake, ice cream, cup cake and cake balls (Kim made). You should check out the spaghetti cupcakes Kim made for Mason. He LOVES noodles!

There were lots of cuddling towards the end of the night. The kids got in their pajamas and the hugs came out. Braden was hugging Juliette, Gavin and Ellaina were hugging and Ellaina was loving up on aunt Laura. Gotta love the cuddle bugs! It was such a great celebration with so many of our family and friends! Ellaina had the BEST time and gets so excited when she talks about it!
