Keith has a big 40th birthday coming up, so to keep it a surprise Laura planned an early surprise birthday party. Laura is not always the best at keeping surprises…but who am I to talk. It was such a great time. She rented a double-decker boat on Lake Grapevine. A lot of people turned out to celebrate Keith. The weather was perfect, although the water was COLD. The kids were pretty much the only ones swimming, but Kim and I really wanted to jump from the top. The boat also had a slide off the back, and I really wanted to try that.
The birthday boy was a good sport and went in. Once he did, we decided to follow. It was one of those “I’ll do it if you do it.” kind of things, so we did. Peer pressure is even with you at thirty :) So jokingly Kim and I had planned on holding hands and jumping in together. (I don’t know if it was truly jokingly, or to make sure one of us didn’t chicken out.) Anyway, I decided to make it super juvenile by holding up our hands and shouting “Best friends forever”. Than we…I proceeded to jump. It was a long lonesome jump. I guess I should have told Kim what I was doing, because it caught her by surprise and left me jumping solo into the cold water. It made for a good laugh though. Luckily she didn’t chicken out and jumped after she stopped laughing.

Brad actually had a Saturday off, so we decided to bring brunch to Sherman and visit Grandma & Grandpa J. Apparently it was a good thing we did, because they informed us they were moving back to Minnesota in a couple weeks.
My aunt Low got wind of our visit and asked me to take a formal picture of them while we were there. Grandma and Grandpa were looking their best for pictures and were surprisingly excited about them. I guess Brad doesn’t get his distaste for pictures from his Grandpa :) It was such a honor to be able to take their pictures. Grandpa was so lovey and sweet with Grandma. He wrapped his arms around her and never let go. The session was a quick one, because Grandma was sliding off the stool and I was not going to be responsible for a fall. Brad helped her back to her wheel chair and we just got to enjoy their company after that.
The kids had a blast visiting and warmed up quickly to them. They each took their turn riding around with Grandma in her wheel chair. It was such a nice visit!

who could ask for more? Our Mexico trip was incredible! We got upgraded to an unbelievable condo with a nice quiet front patio that looked onto a water fall and a private back patio with our own hot tub. It was PERFECT! Our condo was a block up from the beach and a block down from the fun. It was the best of both worlds and Brad was in Mexican food heaven. He enjoys authentic Mexican food and I really enjoyed the live entertainment and guacamole. The group that came for the wedding were all a lot of fun. With them and our dear friends Amanda & Dave, it was the perfect trip :)
On the 18th, I took Amanda & Dave out on the beach for some sunset couple pictures. Little did Amanda know, Dave had planned on purposing to her during the pictures. It was so romantic and a great moment to be able to witness (and photograph) for one of my best friends. The proposal pictures have been kept private :) but I will attach a few of my favorite other ones. A couple days later Amanda took some pictures of Brad and I on the beach. It was very HOT and bright, but we had a lot of fun.
There were a couple nights we hung out with people from the wedding party, which was always fun. We played some paso’s (aka quarters), grilled, hot tubed it up, just lounged and danced (danced offs) and just had good times. We also ventured out to a water park like thing. It was nice, but the scuba wasn’t the best. The fish were scares and not as bright as we had expected. I guess scuba diving in the Bahamas had us spoiled. It was relaxing though. They had hammocks everywhere, which is something I always love to do when I am back home in Minnesota at my parents. There is nothing more relaxing thing kicking your feet up and loungen in a hammock…with your sweetie :)
Our family took such good care of the kids and really enabled us to truly enjoy this vacation. We missed them terribly, but we knew they were in good hands. I would get so excited when I would check my and get an update on the kids. We all agreed it was probably better that we didn’t call. They wouldn’t understand that we weren’t coming yet and it might have made it harder for them. Needless to say it was harder for us though. That was a long time to go without hearing our kid’s voice. We had only been away from them for two days before. I am glad we had the first flight home on Saturday. We couldn’t get back home to them fast enough :) Thankfully, they had a blast with everyone, and of course were spoiled. Special thanks to the Barron’s, Daugherty’s, Smith’s and Papa and Jeanne. We cannot thank you enough for taking care of and loving on our babies while we were gone. It meant a lot for Brad and I to get away and enjoy some alone time. We really appreciate all you d have done for us and the kids. Thank you , Thank you, Thank you! :)
