It wouldn’t be a summer trip to Minnesota without swinging on Grandma and Papa’s tree swing. It doesn’t matter how old you are, what mood you are in, or what kind of a day you are having. One ride on that swing will have you gleaming from ear to ear!

It had been a couple years since we all went to the logging camp together…long enough to get excited to go again. Everyone woke up and headed over that morning for a good old fashion breakfast (everyone except Grandma and Bruce that is). It was a really memorable time with a lot of food! The kids enjoyed drinking their orange juice out of the metal coffee cups and playing in the yard. They had a lot of old logging things all around :)
After a few rain delays, we finally got to have at least one bonfire night. Unfortunately it was so late in the vacation that Brad, the kids and I were already pretty worn out. I was still so happy to get to have the bonfire though, and everyone had a good time! We ended up sitting on the dock a little while watching Jason and Logan cross the lake in the kayaks. Another nice day and night in Park Rapids!
We made our annual trip to Itasca state park while we were in Park Rapids. It was interesting to see how brave the kids have gotten from the year before. Braden was really into climbing the rocks this time and into the water. They both wanted to walk some of the water path, but it was just too deep for Braden to go. Ellaina went ahead with Uncle Jason and her cousins.
Itasca state park is where the Mississippi River begins, and the place for our annual family and grandkid picture. Oddly enough, neither picture really worked out this year. It took us so long to get everyone situated on the log, that by the time we were all ready, the person I asked to take the picture didn’t want to be there anymore. She took one picture of us situated and handed me the camera. So what you see is what we got. There were a lot of other people waiting for the log, so we also gave up on trying to get a grandkid picture. The kids were wanting to get down to play. With Jason’s kids being older, I was able to grab one of them :)
